BACKYARD HERBALISM

Create a kitchen cupboard apothecary. Deborah Littlebird shares the benefits and uses of her top twenty medicinal herbs for your home apothecary and helps you design your own backyard medicinal herb garden. The herbal workshop intensive includes hands-on growing tips, wildcrafting herbs, proper drying and storage techniques, tea tasting and creating formulas for medicinal tea blends.  Workshop is held at her Tano Farm food forest and edible landscape. Dress for outdoors and bring a sack lunch.

Gather with Deborah and Larry Littlebird for a series of soulful Sunday Mornings on the peaceful healing lands of Hamaatsa - a wild land sanctuary on 320-acres of pristine environmentally protected lands, south of Santa Fe.  Join us for a contemplative walk in the rolling Juniper landscape of the Ortiz Mountains. Find Pueblo Elder/Storyteller, Larry Littlebird at the Listening Tree and gather for an inspirational slow story. Infuse your morning with a land tea sanctuary and share something gathered in the heart - a new song, an old verse, a woven prayer...

Peregrination - a journey, by foot, notably by a pilgrim crossing over from one landscape to another

An all day spiritual retreat and peregrination on the land with Dr. Greg Valerio and Deborah and Larry Littlebird. During Walking Backward into the Future Pilgrimages across America these retreats are held in a significant indigenous landscapes. Through guided spiritual precepts of Celtic Monasticism and tribal wisdom traditions, we seek our own Origin Story and discover what it means to be indigenous to place.  The day includes meditative alone time and a contemplative land tea sanctuary with a root tea of the land.

TEA & BEE 

An all day retreat with Debra Roberts and Deborah Littlebird.  Experience a day in a life as a bee. Relish in a day of Beauty on the land as we reconnect with our plant kin and winged ones in their natural wild habitat on the Sacred Path of Bee. Learn how to incorporate simple practices for planting for pollinators and nurturing bees in your backyard during the morning session at the Tano Farm food forest. Experience inspired bee love stories, prayers and practices shared in a contemplative land  tea sanctuary. This is a special engagement with Debra Roberts, natural beekeeper and international honeybee speaker/advocate. She will be visiting New Mexico "on the good bee road" from her beloved bee sanctuary in Asheville, North Carolina.

Deborah Littlebird

Deborah is a certified herbalist, botanical farmer and artist. She shares her passion for growing regenerative food gardens and edible landscapes at Tano Farm where she wildcrafts medicinal herbs and artfully prepares meals with healing foods. Deborah creates Land Art Tea Sanctuaries that weave together her faith, art and tea offering sanctuary to sit quietly and listen to the voice in the land.

Larry Littlebird

Larry Littlebird (Laguna/Santo Domingo Pueblos) is a revered storyteller and inspirational speaker who perpetuates his tribal American oral tradition culture. His stories and lifeways continue to inform his work with Slow Story and at Hamaatsa, where Larry and his wife Deborah are the founders and spiritual directors. Here, they facilitate story camps and contemplative spiritual retreats on a 320-acre wild land sanctuary, once original homelands to Littlebird's Puebloan people. More about Larry

Dr. Greg Valerio

Greg is the Spiritual Director of the Society of St. Columba, a monastic agrarian community on the South Downs of England. Greg has an MA in Celtic Christianity and is an international speaker in the New Monasticism movement. In 2016, he was honored with an MBE (a British honour given to a person by the Queen for their achievement in community service) for his humanitarian work in fairtrade gold mining in Africa and South America. Shebana Coelho

Shebana is an award winning writer and filmmaker,originally from India, who has conducted cross cultural creativity workshops in New Mexico, Hawaii, Mongolia and American Samoa. She received a Fiction Fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts and a Fulbright to Mongolia. Her stories and poems have been published in US and international journals and her documentaries have been broadcast on BBC Radio Four, PBS and the Discovery Channel among others. Debra Roberts

Debra is a passionate honeybee friend, international speaker/educator/artist and bee celebrant who shares her love of these precious beings on the Good Bee Road. She is Founder of HolyBeePress.com and was chosen as one of the Heroes of Asheville in 2014 for her work with bees and received her Master Beekeeping certication in 2010. She also created the online series, The Sacred Path of Bee, for bee appreciators worldwide. More about Debra
